Many conditions Rheumatologist’s treat have an inflammatory basis driven by an underlying immune process. This is often referred to as autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic disease. Rheumatology is a very systemic specialty with involvement and overlap with many other organ systems, so a Rheumatologist will also manage vascular, skin and other non-articular conditions.
